GTA 6 Developers Continue Protesting And Speak On Scandal

Rockstar Games developers have continued to protest outside of the main GTA 6 development building and other offices following the alleged union busting scandal.

After a few protests in previous weeks, current and former Rockstar staff are not giving up. Last night, dozens of people took to the streets of Scotland to march from the Rockstar North office building to Scottish Parliament. This followed a protest outside of Take-Two’s London and Paris (pictured above) offices on Friday.

    The Devs Speak

GTABase took part in the Edinburgh protest and had chance to interview some of the developers who were fired by Rockstar last month. They asked a couple of the developers and a union representative what is the status of the legal filings.

“I just wanna make games, man.” – Ex-developer

A group of people, including former and current employees, are holding a long, horizontal red and white banner that reads "GAME WORKERS UNION" and smaller protest signs.

The devs anticipate months of waiting before a formal ruling. The union rep detailed how unresponsive Rockstar have been. The company are still yet to respond to the appeals.

A 6 week period is currently ticking down for Rockstar to respond for interim relief. This will request the company to reinstate all of the employees who have been fired or to place them on full wages while the employment tribunal takes place. The timeline given for a decision is mid-December. We’ll be sure to keep you up to date as and when anything is announced.

As for if they would come back to work on GTA 6 at Rockstar, the ex-staffers only had one answer. Two developers said they would continue working for Rockstar if they were reinstated. This is because they love what they do. If you’d like to help support the affected developers in their battle against Rockstar, you can donate here.

    It Will Continue.

This story is not going away any time soon. Scottish National Party MP for Dundee Central Chris Law tabled a motion for the Staff at Rockstar Games yesterday. This follows the situation being brought up by another MP last week. It could continue to gain traction within the UK government.

In other Rockstar Games and Edinburgh news, the company are sponsoring a yearly triathlon event once again. Learn more about it here. Plus, more long-time employees left Rockstar earlier this month but by their own choice; all from the same department…find out about that situation in our report. Be sure to stay tuned to RockstarINTEL for all the latest news on Rockstar Games and GTA VI.
