A highly reputable leaker has just revealed information regarding GTA 6 reviews. We now know when reviewers will be getting the game and a rough idea when they will be going live.
There has been a lot of speculation regarding the review period of GTA 6. We’ve seen quite a few gamers online think that there will be no reviews because Rockstar won’t let anyone have early access to the game. That is not going to be the case according to the ever reliable NateTheHate.
In a new post on ResetEra, the video game insider responded to a fan that pondered if review copies for Grand Theft Auto VI were already distributed. Nate claims they are yet to be sent out but they will be before the end of October. That means reviewers will have more than 2 weeks early access to the game. That’s significantly longer than many people thought. Sure, the game is absolutely huge and needs plenty of time to really go through it but this is a game Rockstar don’t want leaking any more than it has.
In addition to this, Insider Gaming are reporting that they’ve learned reviews will go live before the game’s released on November 19th. This is a good sign because we’ve seen people speculate that Rockstar would not let reviews drop before the game is out to everyone. Sure, it could just be the day before but at least they are out ahead of release; in most time zones that is.
Game of the Year?
In relation to critics getting the game more than 2 weeks in advance, there’s something else to remember. Last month, we received information on how The Game Awards voting works and that GTA 6 probably wasn’t going to make the cut off due to how early the nomination process begins. Last year, the date was set for November 4th.
In theory, GTA VI will be in the hands of people on that TGA jury a few days before the initial nomination date. Some people will be able to sneak the game in to various categories. It’ll be very interesting to see if Rockstar send out the game to a lot of reviewers or not and how that affects its nomination for The Game Awards. Nominees will be announced just a few days after the game comes out so we won’t have to wait long to find out.
