GTA Online Support Will Continue Even After GTA 6 Releases Confirms Take-Two

GTA Online will continue to be supported by Rockstar Games past GTA 6’s release. That’s according to the CEO of Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive. This is them doubling down on their post-GTA VI support efforts which were first confirmed last year.

Late on Tuesday, Take-Two published its Q3 2026 quarterly earnings report to investors and CEO Strauss Zelnick entertained them on a phone call and answered questions.

During the call, Take-Two announced GTA Online’s A Safehouse in the Hills update brought “nothing short of stellar player engagement and recurrent revenue gains” even over 12 years on from release. GTA Online also led the company’s recurrent consumer spending growth of 27%. Some of this was down to GTA+ which has now doubled in active subscribers compared to the same time last year. The CEO also teased they are exciting to be offering additional value to GTA+ members in the future.

It Will Be Supported

As for the future of GTA Online post-GTA VI, an investor quizzed Zelnick on if the GTA V version will continue. In response to this he said that he has “every reason to believe we’ll continue to support GTA Online. There’s a great community that loves it, that stays engaged. And, again, in this quarter, Rockstar has shown that when you deliver great additional content, despite how long GTA Online has been in the market, people show up.” This is a clear indicator that if people are still attached to the current iteration of GTA Online, Rockstar will be sure to support it.

Last year, Zelnick told reporters that “we support our properties when the consumers are involved with those titles.” GTA Online will continue well after GTA 6 and the next Online’s launch. Some players on last gen won’t be able to afford a new console and PC gamers will have to wait months or years for a VI port.

Details on GTA VI’s version of GTA Online are thin. So much so, Rockstar have not even confirmed there will be an online component yet. Obviously, there will be but it just goes to show how little we know about it. So far, all we might know is the player count that got leaked in recent court filings. You can check that out here.

Will you still be playing GTA Online in GTA V once GTA 6 is out? Let us know down in the comments below.

GTA online was a massive disappointment. Horrible UI, horrible connection issues. Every lobby populated by people whose sole purpose in life is to annoy other people. Hovering above the city launching missiles at people as they spawn, and the game won’t let you switch lobbies because the endless death and respawn cycle interrupts the menu…

Not to mention the game is a shameless cash grab. The economy makes no sense, features are introduced but never again utilized. Endless menus to find whatever from whatever update. GTA with friends it is not. When it first launched on the 360 it was good, heists made it a little better, but even those are so heavily scripted and depending on randoms is a joke. Could spend the entire night on one heist with nothing to show for it.

If GTA VI online is more of the same unrealistic cash grab I will just stick to single player. Not doing that again.
