Rap icon 50 Cent has posted on Instagram a Vice City tease strongly connecting him to GTA 6. Given the leaked location the upcoming game will be set in Vice City, that’s where the GTA VI association is coming from. The musician’s post was an image of the Kingpin achievement/trophy from Vice City in Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition and unlisted PS4 version. The image was partnered with a curious caption stating “I will Explain this later”.
If 50 Cent is working on GTA 6 he would be under NDA and this tease is quite strong. He could also just be licensing his music for the next instalment in the Grand Theft Auto series. The same could be said for GTA Online. We reported back in November 2022 an upcoming GTA Online update would allow players to create their own music. It is not out of the question 50 could have some input in this new content. It is also possible this post in question is a project unrelated to GTA in any capacity but it is noteworthy for now. Another thing worth mentioning is he announced on January 1st 2023 he will be putting out new music this year.
Update March 4th:
After 50 Cent posted another Vice City image to his social media accounts, the star removed it along with the previous logo. It’s unknown why this was done.
Following Dr Dre?
Whether it is for GTA 6 or a new GTA Online update, it would be no surprise to see another famous name from the music industry work closely with Rockstar Games. Music and Grand Theft Auto have a long and storied history together. Rockstar Games’ founders Sam and Dan Houser started at a record label which Take-Two Interactive purchased and then the name Rockstar was born.
The in-game radio found in GTA games has become a powerhouse for spreading sounds of all genres across several decades. The profound impact Grand Theft Auto has had on the world was proven when real life musicians such as Dr. Dre became part of GTA Online’s ongoing story. Dre’s The Contract album (featuring Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross to name just a few) was heard first inside of GTA Online and the artwork was an in-game screenshot. To add to this, Rockstar Games started their own record label as well.
