A protest took place outside Rockstar Games’ headquarters located in New York City on Friday evening. The rally brought people from all different unions plus members of the public who just wanted to show support for the affected workers involved with the alleged union busting scandal.
Last week, the Tech Workers Coalition announced the “New York City Rockstar Works Solidarity Rally” for Friday December 5th and it went on to be a success. Rockstar HQ is based out of the famous Broadway in lower Manhattan so there is a huge amount of foot traffic. This also shows support is international with the majority of the workers affected being based in Edinburgh.
Photos and videos posted by the coalition show many people holding up GTA and Rockstar themed signs outside of Rockstar’s NYC office. Take-Two’s legal teams are also located at the property. Members of the Alphabet Workers Union (AWU-CWA) also joined in the protest. Below is a photo taken at the protest by the Tech Workers Coalition.

It is possible we’ll see more protests take place outside of key Rockstar Games locations.
The Independent Workers Union of Great Britain (IWGB) are around a week or so away from getting a decision from Rockstar in regards to interim relief. It requests the company to reinstate all of the employees who have been fired or to place them on full wages while the employment tribunal takes place. We’ll be sure to keep you up to date as and when anything is announced.
Last week, the City of Edinburgh Council agreed on taking action against Rockstar and offering support to the fired GTA 6 developers. Learn more about what went down here. Over 200 current Rockstar employees have written to the company asking for their colleagues to be reinstated.
