L.A. Noire might still get some more love from Rockstar Games. That’s according to Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick who has surprised many people with new comments about the franchise.
The CEO took part in a new gaming event titled “iicon” in Las Vegas last night. Set up by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) who previously created and ran E3, panels and interviews focused on the gaming business taken place.
As reported by GameFile (paywalled), Zelnick took to the stage and was asked a number of questions by Jenny Maas of Variety. One of the questions asked involved L.A. Noire. Have Take-Two and Rockstar ever looked at doing something with the IP? Zelnick was clear: “yes”. This reportedly shocked the journalist leading to a jaw drop.
Even though Zelnick followed this up fast by saying that “You never know. The answer broadly is we’re looking at doing something in the future with all of our intellectual property”, this is still a win for L.A. Noire fans. Aside from differing ports, it has not had a true new entry in the franchise nor is it really talked about by Take-Two or Rockstar. There’s “nothing to announce” Zelnick stated but if there was anything, it would come from Rockstar.

Something to keep in mind is that Team Bondi still lives on within Rockstar in a stronger way thank you may think. Brendan McNamara who founded the ill-fated Australian studio ended up creating Video Games Deluxe and employing L.A. Noire developers. The team at VGD re-released L.A. Noire for modern consoles plus its The VR Case Files version for Rockstar several years ago. Last year, Rockstar acquired Video Games Deluxe and rebranded the studio as Rockstar Australia.
The most recent L.A. Noire news we’ve had is that the game is now part of GTA+ as of 2024.
During this same interview, Zelnick was asked about GTA 6 as you’d expect. To be fair to him, his responses were more than a simple “I can’t answer that.” Instead, he doubled down on the game releasing this November and that marketing is going to kick off in the near future. Plus, he addressed concerns that the game will cost more than $70 which you can learn about here.
