Rockstar Games have shut down the real Lifeinvader website you could visit on your internet browser. The company launched this website just before GTA V launched in September 2013. That means fans have been able to visit the GTA Facebook parody for almost 11 years.
This kind of promotion for GTA V was loved by fans. Rockstar Games created various sites offering bits of information about the game’s world. It was masterfully done and we hope for something similar in the run up to GTA VI.
Not only did the real Lifeinvader site offer lots of profiles of people and brands found within GTA, it had an actual use for GTA Online players. Fans could sign into the site with their Rockstar Games Social Club account.
It had working features such as the ability to “stalk” and comment on posts. Clicking on sponsored brands that appeared on the site would grand you discounts at sites like Legendary Motorsport or freebies in the form of a can of Sprunk.
Sadly, the site has been shut down. Typing in the lifeinvader.com URL or clicking any of the original links found online will redirect you to Rockstar Games’ website; specifically the page for the GTA series.
It is a real shame this site has now gone forever. It cannot be accessed or used how it originally functioned. The site has been archived to some extent but it is broken and has not been properly archived.
Some profile pages can be accessed but there are constant redirects and it simply just does not function how it used to. Based on the Wayback Machine, it appears the site was removed and the URL redirect was set up towards the end of may. This was first spotted by Reddit user Away_Hope6357 last week and brought to our attention by @mnm345x on Twitter.
