Rockstar Games have officially announced GTA 6 in a Newswire post on their website. This is a moment fans have been waiting a decade for and at long last it has arrived. The dedicated webpage for the game has also been created.
The iconic Rockstar Newswire shares GTA VI
Titled “Grand Theft Auto VI – Watch Trailer 1 Now”, the Newswire post embeds the GTA VI trailer along with a small blurb.
The text reads “Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet. Coming 2025 to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.”
This reiterates the game is not coming to PC at launch. This is unsurprising as Rockstar have taken this approach since the release of GTA III all the way back in 2001. Rockstar tend to release the console version then a PC version 1-2 years afterwards. We actually learned recently some information about GTA III’s PC release and how it affected GTA Vice City’s development. You can read about it here.
GTA VI webpage now live
A new page is now live on Rockstar Games’ website: The GTA VI webpage. Opening it displays the first illustrated art for the game featuring Jason and Lucia, the two main characters. Clicking on the image opens the trailer. Scrolling however opens the image up to display the VI logo and text saying “WELCOME TO LEONIDA”. This is the fictional name of Florida in the game.
Further text says “Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet. Coming 2025 to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.”
Downloads section also live
Rockstar Games have also added a downloads section for GTA VI. They have put up high resolution versions of the illustration artwork and the logo on their website here.
