Rockstar Games announced on Tuesday that they are shuttering their video streaming service for fan-made content with immediate effect. Some fans have taken to social media to complain about the lack of warning as all user-created videos are no longer available to be viewed.
Bad News For Some
The announcement was made in an article on Rockstar Games’ support site and spotted by community member Tez2. Titled “End of support for user-generated content videos on the Rockstar Games website”, the article explains the situation.
You’ll no longer be able to upload videos you make with the Rockstar Editor within GTA V as of April 15th. From the same date, all videos uploaded to the platform are no longer watchable. All uploading from the Rockstar Editor to the website is “no longer supported”.
Complaints

Some fans over the years have used the Rockstar Games website to store their creations made within the Rockstar Editor. This has been a feature for over a decade. As such, the lack of heads up from Rockstar about the permanent deletion of all these videos has angered those that used it. The replies to Tez’s Tweet are mostly GTA fans sharing their frustration.
Rockstar Games removed the Rockstar Editor from the PS4 and Xbox One versions of GTA Online a little over a year ago. Deprecation of old services may seemingly continue to happen ahead of GTA 6. Rockstar are likely wanting to stop support of an old service and have people upload their GTA videos to YouTube to cut costs on server storage.
It is such a shame the Rockstar Editor never made its way to Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online. We can only hope GTA VI features new and improved creation tools. Based on what we know, user-generated-content should play a huge part in GTA Online for GTA VI.
