Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser has just revealed his first game since leaving the company he built. Over the past few years, we’ve reported on Houser’s latest work including Absurd Ventures, a new multimedia company he set up and how he’s hired many Rockstar Games veterans along the way.
We’ve seen Absurd Ventures kick off their multimedia plans with A Better Paradise and American Caper podcasts and graphics novels and how a game will be set in the Paradise universe but today’s news adds a new game to the roster.
According to a press release (via Venture Beat), Absurdaverse is a new satire universe from Absurd Ventures. We’ll first see this IP in animated series which will then be followed up with an action-comedy adventure game. Absurd will be developing this game separate from their open world action-adventure game based their A Better Paradise franchise.
Houser’s company states on their website that the first stories from Absurdaverse (in animation form) will come in 2025. There’s also an image showing many of the characters. You can see all of the characters in the featured image of this article above; click on it to view it in full resolution. More information will also arrive later this year plus updates on A Better Paradise and American Caper too according to a blog post.
“A very first look at just a few characters from the ABSURDAVERSE. Prepare to meet some new kinds of heroes (and watch them suffer).” – Absurd Ventures on Absurdaverse

Late last year we learned how South Korean game publisher Smilegate said they have “made a strategic investment and become a partner in Absurd Ventures”. You can learn more about it here along with a rare statement from the legendary video game writer and developer Dan Houser.
