Rockstar Claim They Fired GTA 6 Staff For Leaking Features From Unannounced Games

Rockstar Games have hit back over claims they fired over thirty GTA 6 developers for attempting to unionise. The company has also revealed they are working on unannounced projects as part of a new statement which will cause many fans to begin speculating. Plus we learn how the company made politicians who were looking to understand the situation sign NDAs before entering the office.

This comes in response to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer telling parliament on Wednesday he is having ministers investigating the company’s recent actions. He called the situation “deeply concerning“. So Rockstar now not only have the local Edinburgh Council to deal with but the overall UK government.

    Rockstar’s Statement

In a new statement to IGN, Rockstar say they “took action against a small group of individuals, across the UK and internationally, who distributed and discussed confidential information (including specific game features from upcoming and unannounced titles) in a public forum, in breach of company policy and their legal obligations. Claims that these dismissals were linked to union membership or activities are entirely false and misleading.”

This is new information as previously it was suggested they had not leaked anything involving game information. Additionally, the “upcoming” title is most likely referring to GTA VI. Whereas “unannounced titles” is more interesting. What other games are Rockstar working on? This rules out GTA VI and the Max Payne 1&2 Remake. A potential Red Dead Redemption 2 or GTA IV current gen port? That is for fans to speculate on.

    A Meeting With Rockstar

Chris Murray Labour MP for Edinburgh East and Musselburgh who brought up the matter to the PM in the House of Commons has revealed to IGN how a meeting with Rockstar went sour.

    MP Chris Murray

Murray along with other Edinburgh MPs Tracy Gilbert and Scott Arthur was set to have a meeting with management at Rockstar North’s office. However, it was met with hostility. Murray explains Rockstar required all three of them to sign an NDA before they could enter the building. The three politicians refused to do so and due to this they were not allowed in the office.

Eventually, Rockstar pulled this requirement and let them have a meeting although it did not go down well. The MP told IGN “The meeting only entrenched my concerns about the process Rockstar used to dismiss so many of their staff members. I was not assured their process paid robust attention to UK employment law, I was not convinced that this course of action was necessary, and alarmingly, I did not leave informed on exactly what these 31 people had done to warrant their immediate dismissal.”

Just last week, the City Of Edinburgh Council have passed a motion to support affected Rockstar Games staff in wake of the alleged union busting scandal. Seeing that there were actually new leaks at this time that are just being discovered and put up in YouTube videos of new GTA 6 features, such as the new e-bike and bike physics, to the Lucia stand in sitting on the pickup roof then jumping off the roof into a bed and then to the ground leaked footage is seriously impressive,More will probably be found. However, Rockstar was probably quick enough to get everything taken down before it all went public!

That leak was totally unrelated and was from an unaffected employee.
