Rockstar Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment have both announced in a conjoined blogpost that GTA 6 will ‘play best’ on PS5.
‘Thanks to the close partnership between Sony Interactive Entertainment and Rockstar Games, Grand Theft Auto VI will play best on PS5 by taking advantage of PS5’s immersive features to deliver a deeply engaging single-player experience when it launches on November 19.’
PlayStation also introduced a new ‘Plays Best on PS5’ logo to mark the marketing partnership between Rockstar and Sony:

One of the primary features GTA 6 will take advantage of is the DualSense wireless controller, adding haptic feedback and trigger resistance: ‘The controller’s haptic feedback offers responsive vibrations, while its adaptive triggers provide dynamic resistance. The controller’s integrated speaker also adds another dimension to key moments and interactions, with sound effects from the controller enhanced by haptic feedback.’ States Rockstar and Sony on PlayStation’s weblog.
It would be easy to assume weapons will add adaptive triggers, as well as cars possibly, while you may feel the rain dripping on your controller when taking in the soaked streets of Vice City.
3D Audio tech
GTA 6 will also take advantage of PS5’s Tempest 3D AudioTech, enabling accurate audio positions: ‘From the streets of Vice City to the moments that unfold all across the state, this highly accurate audio positioning enhances your perception, helping to bring this world to life around you in unmatched ways.’
Near instant load times
Traversing Vice City will be fairly seamless due to PS5’s high speed SSD, as Sony and Rockstar state in the blogpost: ‘Grand Theft Auto VI also leverages the PS5’s ultra-high speed SSD, enabling you to experience the expansive world of Leonida with near-instant load times.’ Rockstar’s games in the past have been notorious for long load times, such as GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 on the PS4. It is important to note that Xbox Series X and S consoles also have high-speed SSD’s, although not as fast as the PS5, it usually doesn’t make a massive difference.
PS5 Pro Enhanced
The pre-order page over at PlayStation indicates that GTA 6 will be PS5 Pro enhanced. How and in which manner is currently unknown. The blogpost also doesn’t indicate that there will be a performance or fidelity mode, making it unclear if GTA 6 will be available to play at 60fps.
