Red Dead Redemption on PS4 has become the best selling game on the PlayStation Store today. This comes the day after its re-release and despite major backlash.
We reported on release day that the game was trending highly on the PlayStation Store a day before its release. As the game was not available for pre-order, it takes into account people wish listing and searching for the game.
Sizzling start for Red Dead on PS4
As seen by Videotech, it has shot straight to the top of the PlayStation Store charts globally now it is purchasable. In other regions it is trending a little lower than first place. For example, in the UK it is the 3rd best selling title. This re-release also runs on PS5 but not as a native game. It makes use of backwards compatibility to run the game on next gen hardware.
Fans in the community have given this port backlash over its lack of new features and bare minimum release. Many fans wanted a remake and 60FPS but instead the game is basically the original game unchanged except for a few settings and such.
The game received a score of 88 on Metacritic for the PS4 versions.
Nintendo Switch store charts
Red Dead Redemption does feature in the Nintendo Switch eshop charts in 8th place a day after release. This is up from 15th place which we reported yesterday for launch day. Just 4 days after release, it made its way up to 3rd place. It will be interesting to see how the audience on Nintendo’s platform reacts to this game releasing on their system.
The game has received a score of 88 on Metacritic for the Nintendo Switch.
