A new Red Dead Redemption 2 mod has recently released after four years in development which restores New Austin back to its 1911 version. Bringing back all the classic locations from Red Dead Redemption 1.
The mod, called Project New Austin 1907 has been in development for over 4 years, created by Richard Hertz along with a small team. All the locations from Red Dead Redemption 1 have been re-added, and the ones already in Red Red Redemption 2 such as Armadillo and Macfarlanes Ranch have been updated to look exactly like they do in RDR1.

The mod also brings the Western colour scheme from RDR1 back to Red Dead Redemption 2 but with the texture quality of RDR2. Each location is also complete with its own unique peds. Which also have its own dynamic schedules and navigations.
The team have said they have removed the dark orange tint from New Austin and its surrounding areas and hand tweaked it further to create the perfect blend between RDR1’S colour scheme and RDR2’S game art style.
The reimagined areas
Armadillo
Armadillo is no longer full of sick citizens. Its once again a thriving town with a whole set of custom Town folk going by doing the day to day business. The Town has its own working law system, Newspaper vendor, Theatre and more.
Macfarlanes Ranch
Macfarlanes Ranch is back to its original self. With everything from the barn, the Sheriffs Office, General Store and more, back in a more enhanced edition. Macfarlanes Ranch also features a working Train Station in the same way from RDR1.
The Morningstar Ferry
The Morningstar Ferry is back bigger and better than ever. The Mod team have not only remastered the exterior of the Ferry, but also the Interior. The Interior of the Ferry was cut content from RDR1 and was meant to feature a whole Casino and Saloon. From the little footage featured in the Trailer from 2010, the team have created a fully functional Saloon and Gambling Minigames such as Blackjack and poker.
Tall Trees

Tall Trees is now recovered in the much loved Snow, with some reworked vegetation around the forest and a custom Time cycle Modifier. We finally have the best version of Tall Tress back.

A lot of other areas have been reworked / added to Red Dead Redemption 2 with this mod. The Plainview Oil Refinery has been built from he ground up, creating a layout that better suits the RDR2 aesthetic, but still staying true to the original version from Red Dead Redemption 1.
The Wreck of Serendipity Riverboat has been added back, with a whole new level of remastered decay throughout the boat.
