A new month’s worth of chart data is in from PlayStation and other sources. Red Dead Redemption 2 has continued to dominate downloads whilst GTA V seems some changes following a month-long Halloween event. Let’s take a look at how it things went for Rockstar Games in October.
GTA V Downloads Still Keep Coming
PlayStation shared their monthly game charts this week for PS5, PS4, PSVR and F2P game downloads throughout October and there are some interesting differences across the two charts. In September across Europe, it was in 6th position and 7th in North America.
Meanwhile last month saw the game rise to 4th place in Europe but drop 3 places to 10th in the USA and Canada. New releases such as Battlefield 6 and Ghost of Yōtei.
A similar story can be seen in the PS4 charts. It moved up to 4th from 6th in Europe whereas in North America it slipped from 5th to 7th.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Still On Top

Red Dead Redemption 2 remains the most downloaded PS4 game in the US/Canada in October. This is the 4th month in a row after a two month stint in 2nd. This means Red Dead 2 has now been the most downloaded game 8 months out of 10 this year.
As for the European chart, it took back first place. In September it missed out to EA FC 26 but it has now been downloaded more than the newer release. With a new version of Red Dead 2 seemingly on the horizon, that will place it in the PS5 charts. We’ll be interested to see how that affects the charts.
Sales Data
We also have some sales data coming in for Europe for the week ending October 26th via The Game Business from GSD. In terms of copies sold, GTA V was the 7th best selling game when physical and digital copies were combined. This was down 3% from the previous week Red Dead Redemption 2 came in 8th place; up 37% from a week ago.
As for the month of August sales in the US, GTA V was the 13th best selling game down from 10th place according to Circana. Red Dead Redemption 2 slid from 9th to 20th. GTA V is now the 17th best selling game of 2025 so far.
