The amount of money Red Dead Online makes has been leaked. This among other financial data is quite surprising and will no doubt raise some eyebrows in the Red Dead Online community as to why Rockstar dropped full developer support.
Yesterday, several gigabytes worth of Rockstar Games’ financial data was leaked by a teenage hacking group known as ShinyHunters. This has included things such as player counts and revenue for both GTA Online and Red Dead Online. It peels back the curtain on a beloved yet forgotten Rockstar project. As we are about to show, Red Dead Online is continuing to be a success financially despite Rockstar not creating major updates for some years now as they became focused on GTA 6.
How Much Red Dead Online Makes Now
As spotted by Twitter user @videotech, we have access to the past couple of years’ worth of Red Dead Online revenue.
- 2024 (June 4th – Dec 31st) : $17,121,648.48
- 2025: $24,871,160.14
- 2026 (Jan 1st – April): $6,190,538.00
That’s nearly $50m in about two years. The game’s all-time peak spending week was Christmas 2024. It made $868,068.
GTA Forums user Lexiture spotted that between June 2024 and the start of April 2026, Red Dead Online makes on average $507,193 a week. The annual estimate is around $26.4M. Whilst all of that cash coming from gold bars may sound like a lot, it is dwarfed in comparison to what GTA Online makes in a smaller time: $500m.
Red Dead Online’s Current Playerbase

Despite the huge gap in revenue, there is a metric fans can still be happy with. Around the same time period, the average active users per week is around 1 million and 123,748 of them are new players. The highest player count per week can even reach as high as 1,295,690.
This is for Red Dead Online alone and not Red Dead Redemption 2’s story mode. Sure, this is a fraction of GTA Online but it is still lots of people playing a game that has had no sizable updates in years.
In other news from the leak, player counts for GTA Online have been released plus GTA+ subscriber counts have also been revealed. GTA Online has also made over $5 billion since launch.
