As part of the brand new Red Dead Online Event Month for July, Rockstar Games are bringing zombies to the game. Fans have been asking for an Undead Nightmare 2 DLC for years but due to GTA 6, nothing like it has come to the game. It has even been a few years since the last large content update for Red Dead Online.
Despite that, the company surprised the community on Tuesday. Whilst a new Event Month was expected to launch on July 1st, no one expected the undead to be part of it… It even comes complete with a trailer.
“New” Content
Rockstar Games have released a few new missions for Red Dead Online this month which has come to a huge surprise to the community. These are brand new Telegram missions called Strange Tales of the West have come to Red Dead Online. Interestingly, the main artwork for this update called it Vol. 1 meaning there will be future volumes of this sort of content.
Could we see more new content in Red Dead Online this year alongside the rumoured next-gen and Switch 2 ports? We’ll just have to wait and see. Until then, let’s dive into what is new in Red Dead Online.
Rockstar Games say in their newswire article announcing this content that you’ll be resolving rumors Author Theodore Levin has been hearing. These contain some very interesting enemies.
In one mission, robots will shoot fire arrows at you which instantly kill you on impact. Meanwhile in another, you need to sneak into Armadillo and inspect undead corpses. The undead can be found in infected zones which will see your health deteriorate.
How To Play These New Missions
To gain access to these free new missions, head to the nearest post office and claim them from the clerk, open your Camp’s Lockbox or launching Telegram Missions from the Player Menu.
Once you have obtained the Strange Tales of the West telegrams, open your satchel and select it. You’ll be given a menu of 4 options to pick from and choose which you want. You can find the 4 missions below:
- Strange Tales of The Plague
- Strange Tales of Modern Science
- Strange Tales of the Bayou
- Strange Tales of the Wilderness
What Are The New Telegram Missions?
Rockstar Games say in their newswire article announcing this content that you’ll be resolving rumors Author Theodore Levin has been hearing. For starters, there are a plague of undead is running through Armadillo. It’ll fall on you to retrieve several of these diseased corpses for scientific examination, if you can avoid infection and fend off attacks from a resurgent cell of nearby cultists.
Meanwhile a scientist claims he’s created artificial killing machines in the grounds of Braithwaite Manor. Plus something unholy lurks in the swamps of Lagras. You need to bring the swamp creature back for Theodore before the swamp folk get you.
Lastly, a missing scientist was most recently seen conducting strange research on murderers located in Tall Trees. Find weapons, craft items, and hunt for food, all while tracking down the scientist and his captors.
