Highly popular mod menu 2Take1 has been shut down by Rockstar Games‘ parent company’s lawyers according to the developers behind it. This mod menu was released in 2017 and has been a thorn in Rockstar’s and PC player’s side since. It has managed to outlive many other competing cheating tools but now it has come to a sudden end.
Since the introduction of the BattlEye anti-cheat in the PC version of GTA Online last year, Take-Two have been able to ban many cheaters. Plus, they have made several mod menu teams cease development and remove downloads of these hacks.
Following the launch of GTA V Enhanced on PC, the disruptive mod menu creators published a statement to their community on Discord revealing it is over for 2Take1 which was shared by content creator Mors Mutual on social media. A few days ago, they were contacted in email by lawyers working for Take-Two. The legal team requested the mod menu and website must be shut down very soon or legal action will be enforced.
Due to the threat of legal proceedings, the 2Take1 team decided it was in their best interest to comply with Take-Two Interactive’s demands. Below is the full statement made by Team 2Take1:
Hello everyone, it saddens me to say this announcement only brings bad news.
As much as we’ve always said 2Take1Menu will remain usable in some way as long as GTA:O was working, the situation has changed and this is unfortunately no longer the case. I’m sure some of you have already caught on it wouldn’t make sense for us to randomly shut down before march 4th, so you can guess what happened.A few days ago, the current management team of the menu were contacted via email by lawyers representing Take-Two interactive, the holding company that owns Rockstar Games. In these emails, the lawyers presented enough information that we are almost certain the email is legitimate. While we won’t post the exact content of the emails, the were clear on what they wanted.
“Shut down the menu and website, stop developing anything related to 2Take1Menu, stop distributing menu keys or we will take legal action against you.”
They gave us a deadline that was shortly after the upcoming game update to completely cease operations. Given we are fairly certain it’s a legitimate threat from Take-Two Interactive and that we have absolutely no interest in being sued, the decision has been made to stop development on the menu immediately. There will be no further updates.
2Take1Menu has been in operation since 2017, created as a passion project after the success of the early free subVersion mod that subito made. Until this point, it was the longest running menu outlasting everybody else, making it one of the longest running mods available for GTAV.
Even after the BattlEye anticheat was added to the game, it was always the intention to keep the menu updated and working even if development on new features had slowed significantly from the early years and it saddens us that this is the way things are going instead.
Instead of coming up with some half-baked story like others may, we at least want to tell you guys how things are, and why we’re doing what we’re doing.
We wish that it could’ve ended in a better manner but surely you see there’s no real elegant way to end things like this.
We wish you all the best in the future.Best regards, Team 2 Take Menu.

More Mod Menus Under Threat
This mod menu is not the only one suffering legal implications. Another popular mod menu is Stand and they too received an email from Take-Two’s lawyers. Some mod menu users were asking why there is no BattlEye bypass and this is what the development team had to say over Discord:
Stand has always been a sort of love letter to the game, so we don’t want to do anything that would violate the integrity of it. While it is/was possible to go online to some extent thanks to Stand’s anti-anti-cheat, this is more of a bug than a feature. We have also had an e-mail conversation with lawyers hired by Take-Two who were aiming for a shutdown of Stand, but they neither had any of our real identities, nor did they see any issue with the way Stand currently interacts with BattlEye, and we have no intention of changing that. – Stand Team
Last month we reported on a conversation Mors Mutual had with a cheat maker. They revealed how they were going to continue to have the mod menu work but have lost interest nearly 10 years on. You can check out the article here.
