New reports for both GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 show the games are doing very well much like the rest of the year despite a lack of content. The player count and downloads of games for March and April has been reported by official sources such as PlayStation. Let’s take a look at how well Rockstar Games’ titles are doing so far in GTA 6’s release year.
Player Count
Let’s take a look at how many people played GTA Online in March. According to Ampere Analysis via The Game Business, the game saw 17.9 million players across Xbox, PlayStation and Steam. This does not include the Rockstar Games launcher or Epic Games Store players. This a 59k reduction in players from February so not a huge drop.
It was still the 3rd most played game in terms of monthly active users only bested by Fortnite with 31.5m and Counter Strike 2 which edged out GTA with 19.5m.
PlayStation Charts

PlayStation have published their monthly game charts for PS5, PS4, PSVR and F2P game downloads for April. Let’s start by taking a look at where GTA V placed in these charts.
The game was the 3rd most downloaded PS5 game in Europe last month which is a one place increase over the month before. It was only beaten by Crimson Desert and EA Sports FC 26. In the USA/Canada chart it slipped moved up from 8th to 7th.
Taking a look at the PS4 version, it has gone from 14th in Europe to 9th. In North America, it is in 12th compared to 14th. Red Dead Redemption 2 was the most downloaded PS4 title in both regions across both months. It has been the most downloaded game every month since last summer on PS4. No surprise change there.
