A new Red Dead Redemption re-release has been officially announced by Rockstar Games. Hours after it leaked via a new age rating classification and mobile app stores, the company published a trailer and blog post detailing the latest ports of the epic western.
Release Details
This new selection of ports will release on December 2nd on all major platforms. That includes PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, iOS, Android and Netflix.
It will be available to purchase on traditional consoles meanwhile Netflix subscribers will be able to play the game using their membership via an app on either Android or iOS devices. These versions will also be part of the GTA+ library which already included the game on Xbox and PlayStation. The game will also be coming to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog on the same day.
Free Upgrade And Saves

That’s not all. Much to the surprise of many, Rockstar are giving this out as a free upgrade. The game was previously re-released on PS4 and Nintendo Switch in 2023 and playable on the current consoles via backwards compatibility. This new, native and enhanced version will be made available for free to those who own the digital version of the game.
The same can also be said about those who own the game digitally on Xbox. Even though it’s the original 360 release, you can also enjoy the new current gen version for free. If you have a PS4 or Switch save, you’ll be able to carry on from those saves.
Features And Content

Much like the previous ports, it will come complete with the Undead Nightmare expansion and Game of the Year Edition content. There will be no online multiplayer mode either much like the other releases.
As for graphical improvements, a whole host of new features will arrive in this port. 60FPS at up to 4K is confirmed for both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Those consoles will also get enhanced visuals over the older versions and HDR so it is in line with last year’s PC release.
As for Nintendo Switch 2, HDR is also part of the package as is 60FPS. DLSS will be enabled to achieve this frame rate at high resolutions. There’s even support for the mouse controls with in the latest iteration of Joycons.
Rockstar worked in collaboration with Double Eleven (who did the Switch 1 and PS4 re-release) along with Cast Iron Games to bring these ports to you. For more Red Dead Redemption news updates, stay tuned to RockstarINTEL.
