A new Red Dead Redemption patch has just been released by Rockstar Games alongside a Christmas themed event month in Red Dead Online. We have all of the details on what this update is for as patch notes were also shared by the company.
The classic western finally came to PC after over 14 years in October and since then there has not been much talk from Rockstar about it. No patches have been out until today, December 3rd. It is a small one but with just a handful of improvements and changes. It’s a small update in terms of size and is not applicable to the PS4/PS5 and Switch versions of the game. The patch notes posted by Rockstar Games on their support site are quite vague but can be found below.
Patch Notes
[December 3, 2024] – General
- Fixed an issue that resulted in exterior lighting not displaying correctly during interior cutscenes
- Improved frame pacing during cutscenes
- Improved Dynamic Resolution Scaling (DRS) functionality
- General fixes and improvements to stability
It’s great to see frame pacing issues resolved plus Dynamic Resolution Scaling improvements. If there are any more issues you find with the game, feel free to report them to Rockstar via their support site.
With the game being so old now and not really requiring high specs of a PC to run, performance was mostly great at launch. Even though the game offers upscalers such as DLSS and FSR, they are far less essential than the game’s sequel. Overall, Double Eleven did a very nice job at putting the game on PC and it is by far the best way to experience the game and DLC.
It will be interesting to see if the PC version has made a splash in the monthly gaming charts that will release in the next week or so. It was high up on the Steam charts and is a game fans seem to be loving on Steam Deck. Once those charts are out we’ll be sure to report on them.
