A brand new survival taking place on Cayo Perico has been released in GTA Online. Fight off waves of zombies to earn rewards and more. This new mode has been highly anticipated by the GTA Online community. It was previously leaked via datamining of the Money Fronts update in June. Let’s take a look at the mode and what it contains.

How To Play Cayo Perico Survival
You can play solo or with friends to shoot undead hordes. To play the mode, simply visit the pause menu, select Jobs, then Rockstar Created, Survivals and you’ll find Cayo Perico Survival. Play it and you’ll be transported to the island introduced to GTA Online in 2020.
The Mode Breakdown
Not only are their standard civilian zombies but also boars, panthers, Conquistadors and more. Radar is turned off except for in the Weapon Wheel. Guns, explosives and health can be picked up in various locations on the map.
This new zombie survival is a multi-stage mode with 4 new enemy types. You’ll begin at the compound before fighting your way through to the outside. Beware of panthers!
You’ll take on a couple of waves before being given a vehicle to move onto a new location, the Main Dock. This where you will take on more of the undead. A bunch of new zombie types will pop up here such as the Splitter and Conquistador. There are also exploding and armoured undead too.
After clearing a few waves you will then re-enter a vehicle and move onto another area of the island, the West Beach and continue undead warfare. A zombie DJ will play in an area making you uncontrollably dance towards him.
The drive to an new area is repeated once again. This time you’ll go to the North Dock. A combo of zombie DJs, Conquistadors, Splitters Once that section has been completed, players will be able to select the next stage. There are a few options:
- Leave Cayo Perico: Selecting this will require all players to enter the Velum at the airstrip which will complete the survival.
- Endless Waves: Compound
- Endless Waves: Main Dock
- Endless Waves: West Beach
- Endless Waves: North Dock
- Selecting any of the Endless Waves option will move all players to this location and begin Endless Waves.
If you end up picking the escape from Cayo option, you’ll have to head to the airstrip, get in the Velum and fly back to Los Santos. Of course, zombies will be in your way and on your tail so be safe and quick! You’ll arrive at LSIA after a short cutscene if you survive.
Rewards and Challenges
As part of the launch of Cayo Perico Survival and the latest Event Week, Rockstar Games have some rewards and challenges relating to the mode. Simply take part in a Cayo Perico Survival once and you will earn the “I Survived Cayo Perico” Tee.
This week’s GTA Online Weekly Challenge can also be completed in Survival on Cayo Perico. The challenge is: “Complete all ten waves of a Survival”. You’ll earn the The Buccaneer Outfit and GTA$100,000 for doing so.
Also, playing Cayo Perico Survival earns double GTA$ and RP this week. GTA+ members get 4x the GTA$ and RP for this week. Rockstar unveiled the new mode in a cool trailer which you can watch in 4K here.

Me honestly I’ve completed that survival mode all 10 waves of it and didn’t even got rewarded with the buccaneer outfit cos rockstar games never bothered giving me it at all honestly I’m horrified with them for this stunt 😠😢
