Rockstar Games have released new versions of both GTA 6 trailers on their website and they offer never before seen quality and details. Hot off the heels of GTA VI Trailer 2’s release, Rockstar has allowed fans to download it in much higher quality than the other places you can watch it such as YouTube.
For a year, fans broke down every frame of the heavily compressed version of Trailer 1 on YouTube. Then last December, a fan noticed a higher quality version of the first trailer was available on Chinese video site Bilibili for paying customers. Due to the higher bitrate, it led to the discovery of various small details which were lost in the compression of the YouTube version.
Now we no longer have to deal with compressed versions of either GTA 6 Trailer 1 or Trailer 2 and spend no money on a slightly better version. Rockstar have uploaded both trailers to their website along with an easy download button.
What Does This Mean?
The trailers are still running at 4K 30FPS but the bitrate is around 63mbps. This is significantly more than any versions found elsewhere online. For comparison, the first trailer’s bitrate on YouTube is around 10mbps and the better one on Bilibili was 17mbps. That’s a several times increase in quality.
This means small details such as particle effects, hair and just the motion in general looks far better. Fans will be able to point out far more small details and not have shaded areas hide things so much. The colours of the trailer are also a little more vibrant on Rockstar’s better version.
Comparison
Below, is a comparison of the same frame on the YouTube version (left) and Rockstar website version (right). Detail in Lucia’s shirt, around the neck, can be seen in the uncompressed version whereas that tiny detail is lost on YouTube. The worn out print on her shirt and her skin is also shaper via Rockstar’s website. Click on either image to view it in full screen.

Similar things can be said about this shot of Lucia and Jason. There is just more sharpness and detail visible on things like the two protagonist’s skin, especially around Jason’s facial hair.

Using a shot with a lot of motion, particle effects and objects in the distance, we can see how much the uncompressed version offers more detail for Jason and Lucia but also the jetski and buildings. This is more representative of the game you’ll be playing.

Not only was this new trailer released but Rockstar also dropped a massive info dump, 70 screenshots, pieces of artwork and more. What do you think about this new trailer? Let us know down in the comments section below.
