Following Bully Online’s shut down just a month after launch, more details on why it has ceased operations.
As previously reported, SWEGTA, the man in charge of Bully Online was set to put out a video to provide additional information on this event. The content creator has now put out said video and we’ll be taking a look at what he had to say.
There has been a bunch of speculation as to why it was taken offline. SWEGTA addresses a few accusations early on. Accepting donations to support the project was not why it was shutdown by a third party nor was it a scam. It is important to note the development team made a point to offer refunds to those who supported them. SWEGTA himself also did not choose to put a stop to its development.
In terms of who made this project come to an end, SWEGTA tells us he can’t reveal too much but does say we can “take two guesses as to who is behind sending a stern letter. Based on the choice of words we can assume it was Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive which many expected.

Is this it for Bully Online forever? Well, whilst Fat Pigeon Development, the team behind the project, will now look towards creating original experiences someone may still attempt a revival. Bully Online was launched as an open source project and people will have downloaded the files necessary to take a look at running it. Whilst it would be removed if publicly revealed, who knows, maybe an underground scene will popup.
As always, we recommend watching the full video here to hear absolutely everything. Plus, to help support the video creator.
It’s such a shame Take-Two seemingly chose to take down such a great fan project. I don’t want to repeat what I said previously on why it should have been left alone; you can read that here.
