The next GTA Online update, A Safehouse in the Hills, has finally gotten its release date confirmed by Rockstar Games. The company fully revealed on Friday that they’d be releasing yet another winter DLC as expected next week.
The new update was first teased by Rockstar last week but details aside from the fact we’ll be able to buy mansions have been fairly limited. Now we know Michael is back, the mission creator is real and more.
What Is A Safehouse in the Hills About?
Rockstar say this update is all about celebrating the players who have earned a lot of money in the game. Now they can finally buy a mansion in GTA Online. Prix Luxury Real Estate are offering 3 mansions to purchase.
The include a special package of Trophy Cabinets, a private Salon, animal Kennels for your domesticated companions, and a new elegant and artfully lit Garage, Car Podium, Armoury and more. That’s right, you can now own pets in GTA Online. Mansions also come with a Private Security detail and a new virtual assistant named Haviland. It is able to offer Production Boosts.
The trailer for the update shows Michael De Santa return to GTA V. Ned Luke reprises his role and welcomes you to the Vinewood Hills. There will also be new Freemode events and several gameplay upgrades.
New Missions
Even though the headline of this update is mansions, it also includes new missions which does not require the purchase of a mansion. The story involves a plot to the development of a mass surveillance network.
New Vehicles
New super cars such as the Vapid FMJ MK V will be coming as part of this update. The new cars will include new Hao’s Special Works compatible cars, as well as the addition of Missile Lock-On Jammer compatibility to more vehicles (including several non-weaponized aircraft). Also, there will be new Law Enforcement Vehicles and Drift variants.
GTA+ Updates
The Vapid FMJ MK V will be free for all GTA+ players on the same day as the update’s launch. GTA+ Membership will also unlock perks for mansion owners and a new option in The Vinewood Club App on your iFruit to Manage Staff Members remotely at select businesses.
Mission Creator
The long-awaited Mission Creator is coming to all versions of GTA Online. Rockstar claim this is an “in-depth and comprehensive toolkit” that will “enable you to design and publish your own Missions using sophisticated game mechanics, custom objectives, placeable actors, and much more.” This has been in development for some time with rumours dating back a couple of years. This is a new era for GTA Online.
When Will It Release? Can You Pre-Load It?
The next GTA Online DLC will release on Wednesday December 10th 2025 at the usual time of 10am GMT. It is currently unknown if Rockstar will offer pre-loading for the update. Typically, Rockstar do let PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players install the update 48 hours prior to release so be on the lookout this Monday at 10am GMT.
