Remedy just discussed their main aim with the Max Payne Remake and their close partnership with Rockstar Games. We’re in a unique position with these Max Payne remakes. Rockstar Games are notoriously one of the most secretive companies in gaming meanwhile Remedy are extremely transparent. The latest info comes just a couple of weeks after Remedy told investors production is going well as it continues to hit important milestones. You can learn more about here.
Why Rockstar and Remedy work together
Let’s get onto the latest on the Max Payne 1&2 Remake. During the company’s Capital Markets Day for 2024 on Tuesday, they shared updates on all of their games including the Max Payne. Remedy CEO Tero Virtala led a presentation going over the current state of Remedy and its future.
Virtala brought up a slide in the presentation looking at the difference between their own franchises and partner ones such as Max Payne. He said that Max Payne is a perfect fit for Remedy because they made it but also the developers love the series. Also, “a work for hire project on such major gaming IP” like Max Payne will have good royalty upsides and “with an esteemed partner like Rockstar Games” is a good balancing factor in their portfolio.
Max Payne is a perfect fit for us. Even though owned by Rockstar Games, Max Payne 1 and 2 were created by us, that we love, many of our developers are passionate about.” – Remedy CEO Tero Virtala
The CEO continued saying that the remakes “can both utilise and build synergies in the same way that any other Remedy game does”.
Remedy’s aim
Remedy’s boss shared the company’s main objective with the Max Payne 1&2 Remake. They want to “create an excellent, commercially successful Max Payne Remake” when it does release. Another important target is to “build a strong Remedy action-game team. This team contains long time Remedy staffers but also new but talented employees.
“With partner franchise, our primary goal is very clear and simple: to create an excellent, commercially successful Max Payne Remake” – Remedy CEO Tero Virtala
In terms of what comes after the Max Payne remakes, Remedy are not speculating what is next. What they decide to do next will be discussed once they’ve delivered the primary goal: an excellent Max Payne Remake states Virtala.
Rockstar Games details
Remedy’s COO Johannes Paloheimo also took part in the presentation. He shared Rockstar Games are still fully funding but also marketing the Max Payne Remakes with a slide showing the Max Payne logo with a black and red background.
On top of that, he mentions the Max Payne team are actually reaching Rockstar’s high standards for the game. As we know, Rockstar do like to push what is possible in games and they are still wanting this Max Payne Remake to be exceptional in quality.
“We have a great relationship with Rockstar and our development team is delivering well against the very high expectations set by Rockstar and Remedy on the project.” – Remedy COO Johannes Paloheimo
Based on Remedy’s consistency and transparency, we should hear from them again once Q4 has concluded with another update update like most quarters. This will be around February 2025. As usual, we’ll be covering the information right here on RockstarINTEL.
