Something surprising just happened to the Max Payne mobile version. Rockstar Games have put out a patch for it after years of leaving it broken yet purchasable. This port of the classic title came out over 14 years ago but that is not stopping Rockstar for fixing it up.
First spotted by Twitter user @Ninjago9101, the mobile version of Max Payne got a large update this month. The game has been given a revamp on Android by Rockstar Games allowing for far more players to enjoy the title on the go.
According to the fan, the game’s first new update in several years has provided compatibility with modern devices. The game has had year’s worth of 1 star reviews due to how unplayable it has been on current hardware and software.

Thankfully, fans can now properly enjoy the game on the smartphones they use. This expanded compatibility extends to Android far newer devices. The $2.99 game also has slightly improved graphics as part of this patch too. The game is also available on iOS but did not receive a patch. This is an Android specific update for issues only faced on that platform.
For those that have not played the game on mobile, it has a number of classic and unique features for this port:
- Max Payne’s signature slow motion gunplay, Bullet Time®
- Stunningly sharp, HD quality resolution and textures
- Gameplay tailored for touch screen devices
- Highly customizable controls
- Multiple aiming modes
- Tailor your visual experience with adjustable graphic settings
- Unlock cheats, track your stats and more with full Rockstar Games Social Club integration
