GTA Vice City IRL video released by Ultra Music Festival

Vice City will be where GTA 6 is set but before we get to the new game, a video inspired by the classic GTA Vice City game has been made by Ultra Music Festival. Following the end of September’s Ultra Music Festival in Miami, the organisation released a showcase of what happened in IRL GTA style video.

    Cool GTA VC details

The video opens with a look at our protagonist wearing a similar Hawaiian shirt as worn by Tommy Vercetti in the original game. It switches to camera view as seen in the 3D GTA games and an overlay inspired by the HUD shows up complete with 5 stars, money, a map and more.

The protagonist receives a call from “Tony” who sets him on a mission to pick up a USB from a music studio. Much like loading screens in GTA V, the camera zooms out above the city and into the sky before the Ultra Miami logo is displayed.

The attention to detail doesn’t stop at what the HUD looks like, a 30 second title credits intro recreates the intro from the original game. It has the same fonts and colours plus the cutouts displaying background footage.

We also get our first look at vehicle footage with clips of motorbike riding in the city and reaching an ojective marker complete with location text in the bottom right corner.

The transitional scenes are shot and edited much like the ones found in GTA VC. You’ll also spot how the main character provides exaggerated movement; the attention to detail is really appreciated. This is followed by a car jack and car “gameplay”. The objective ends up being completed and then another mission is delivered via a phone call.

This starts with a swimming scene and boat driving footage. It still maintains the “exaggerated animations” and camera angles. A new addition to the video shows a radio wheel similar to what the GTA games have.

Midway through the video a merch store is visited and UI taken straight out of GTA is displayed on screen with some cool editing for when the list is being scrolled down.

Another fun inclusion is the main character performing a cheat code in the classic GTA style to spawn a car.

There are several other moments in the video that feature GTA Vice City inspired footage. You can watch the full Ultra Miami 2023 Aftermovie here which is 16 minutes in length.

Stay tuned to RockstarINTEL for more news on the GTA series.
