GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 are in battle with plenty of newer game releases. We’ve just received the chart data for March 2024 and it paints a slightly worse picture for both Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto V compared to February. They had a record breaking year last year which is a tough act to follow. Last month saw Red Dead 2 top the charts but that has dropped a bit.
PlayStation downloads drop
PlayStation released their monthly game charts for PS5, PS4, PSVR and F2P games this week. During February, Grand Theft Auto V was the 5th most downloaded PS5 game across all of Europe but in March it dropped down to 7th.

It also lost several places in the US/Canada chart going from 7th to 13th. The reasons for the drop in both chart placements can be attributed to the continued growth of Helldivers 2, release of STAR WARS Battlefront Classic Collection, Rise of the Ronin, Dragon’s Dogma 2 and more.
As for the PS4 chart, it was a similar story. In February, GTA V was 6th place in Europe and 8th in North America. It lost 1 place in Europe but 3 in the US and Canada during March.
It is somewhat surprising to see the game drop places in all PlayStation charts during March when The Cluckin’ Bell Farm Raid Heist released. Typically, new content significantly raises its standings. However, it is possible, a lot of people had it installed already and still played GTA Online but did not have to re-download it.
Red Dead Redemption 2 still up there

Red Dead Redemption 2 was the most PS4 downloaded game in the US/Canada and Europe throughout February but how did it fair in March? It slipped to 2nd in the North American chart and 3rd in Europe. Not bad considering it does not get updates outside of the small bug fixing patches like last month. Only Minecraft (the best selling game of all time) and EA SPORTS FC 24 beat it last month.
UK charts shows slow down
The monthly UK games charts are in for February. According to the data given out by GSD via gamesindustry.biz, GTA V was the 8th best selling game when all disc and digital sales were combined. This is down from 5th place in the previous two months. Whereas Red Dead Redemption 2 dropped out of the top 10 for this month.
