Grand Theft Auto V continues to sell well and be re-downloaded a lot in December despite numerous of new games releasing such as The Callisto Protocol. Sony have just released their monthly blog post listing the most downloaded PS5, PS4, free-to-play and PSVR games in North America and Europe. These monthly reports give us an idea of how GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 has been doing in the past month compared to the previous ones.
PS5’s keep selling and so does GTA V
In Europe, Grand Theft Auto V for the PlayStation 5 was the third most downloaded game. This is up a place from November’s charts. We’d put this down to the fact the GTA Online: Los Santos Drug Wars update released. It was just behind Call Of Duty Modern Warfare II and FIFA 23 which took the first and runner up positions. It is quite impressive to see Grand Theft Auto V still at the top with brand new releases.
As for Grand Theft Auto V on the PlayStation 5 in North America, GTA V moves up two places. It was in sixth place during November but found its way up to fourth in December.
An even bigger jump was seen on the PS4 side of things. The new charts reveal GTA V went from ninth place to fifth in the US and Canada charts. On the European front, the game hit fourth place compared to the previous month’s fifth place.
Red Dead Redemption 2 remains strong
Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 saw a growth in downloads during December as well. The game does not have a PS5 version so it only shows up in the PS4 charts. This does count downloads to PS5 consoles though. In November we saw it in eighth place in the US/Canada and Europe. It went up from eighth to sixth place in both region charts according to PlayStation.
