A wealth of new data shows both GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 were highly successful throughout last year. The sales and download data of games for all of 2025 has been reported by official sources. Let’s take a look at how well Rockstar Games’ titles did in the past 12 months.
GTA V Sells Well 12 Years On
GTA V was the 20th best selling game in the US in 2025 ranked by dollar sales according to Circana. That takes into account all physical and digital copies sold across each platform. This is down 5 places from 2024. Not bad considering how many new and successful games came out in 2025.
It looks like 2026 will be the year GTA VI comes out and GTA V exits the top 20 after 12 years. Red Dead Redemption 2 did not make the top 20 and has not done for a few years.
As for December 2025 only, GTA V was the 12th bestseller up from 17th the month prior. Red Dead Redemption 2 came in 15th and it was up one place.
Red Dead Redemption 2 On Top
PlayStation shared their yearly game charts this week for PS5, PS4, PSVR and F2P game downloads for 2025. These add up all of the downloads to consoles for the entire of the year.
Grand Theft Auto V was the 2nd most downloaded PS5 game in Europe throughout 2025. This is up one place from the previous year. In the US and Canada, it was the 3rd most downloaded PS5 game. This is up two places from 2024. This is mightily impressive for GTA V. As for the PS4 version, it ended 2025 in 5th position for the USA/Canada chart. This is the same as 2024. The Europe chart sees it in 6th place which is down from 3rd.
Red Dead Redemption 2 managed good growth. In 2024, it was the second most downloaded PS4 title in North America and 3rd in Europe. This changed in 2025. It took the top spot in both regioins.
