Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 have one again continued their strong start in 2023 in terms of sales and downloads.
New reports with verified data shows these two titles from Rockstar Games just keep on going despite their age and brand new blockbuster releases. We’re five months into the year now and the two titles are hanging on in the charts.
PlayStation reveals GTA V is almost tops the charts
PlayStation released their monthly game charts for PS5, PS4, PSVR and F2P games on Tuesday. After becoming 4th place for the USA and Canada during April, GTA V just went from strength to strength in May. In both the North America and European charts, it moved up to second place.
It was only runner up to the new hit Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Considering GTA V had no new content updates and some week event weeks in May, this is quite an achievement.
As for the PS4 chart, it reached 6th place in North America and 4th place in Europe. This up and stationary from the previous month. In April it was in 9th place for the the US and Canada then 4th place in Europe.
We can also see how Red Dead Redemption 2 is doing in May as well. For the US and Canada chart, it moved down from 4th to 5th position.
Meanwhile across the pond it stayed in 5th place for Europe. Red Dead 2 can only be counted in the PS4 chart as there is only a PS4 version.
UK Chart Placements
The report for UK digital and physical games sales for May 2023 were released on Tuesday by GSD via gamesindustry.biz.
GTA V is down a place as the 5th best selling game in the UK for May 2023 behind Jedi Survivor, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Hogwart’s Legacy.
Red Dead Redemption 2 has remained in the top 10 again as well. It was the 9th best selling game last month; down a place in the previous month.
In the week ending May 27th, GTA V actually had its sales disc boosted. It moved up from 12th to 8th place compared to the previous week. This is the first time in quite sometime the disc version of GTA V has made it into the weekly UK charts reported by gamesindustry.biz. It was in 9th place for the UK disc sales in the week ending June 3rd according to gamesindustry.biz.
European Chart Placements
The report for Europe’s digital and physical games sales during May 2023 were released on Friday by GSD via gamesindustry.biz. GTA V is down a place from 4th to 5th. GTA Online as a standalone came in at 16th place.
Red Dead Redemption 2 also dropped places. It previous was in 8th position but last month it came in at 11th.
