Rockstar Games have announced that the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is now available to purchase on the Epic Games Store. This marks the end of over a year for exclusivity to the Rockstar Games Launcher and it was recently released on Steam. For the past few months we have reported on several pieces of evidence the games are coming to both Steam and the Epic Games Store and Rockstar have now confirmed this to be true.
Discounted release and mistakenly set to be free

The company has followed the Steam release by offering the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition with a 50% discount. The special discount sale ends on February 23rd at 2pm UTC. However, when the game first appeared on the Epic Games Store, we noticed GTA Vice City was free to own. After adding it to our basket and checking out it granted us an error. This is a glitch that has plagued Epic’s store in the past as back in 2022 the Dead Standing Director’s Cut was free when it should have only been the standard edition. At the time of writing the three games cannot be purchased individually.

A few weeks ago we wrote how BillbilKun on Twitter, whom have a good track record for gaming news, claimed the GTA Trilogy would release on the Epic Games Store in January. That was not the case due to a last minute change of plan. Rockstar Games themselves did not give a set release date at the time. They said at the end of their Newswire post it would be releasing later in January. Well, January had come and gone and even by the middle of February Rockstar had remained silent. The Epic Games Store release without much fanfare brings an end to this strange second launch cycle.
Will you be picking it up on the Epic Games Store during this discounted period? Let us know down in the comments. Stay tuned to RockstarINTEL for all news updates on Grand Theft Auto.
