Rockstar Games have just released a new GTA Online update just days after the last one. That update included the addition of a new anti-cheat, BattlEye. Whilst it has brought the end to various mod menus plaguing GTA Online, it also ended Steam Deck/Linux support and other problems.
First spotted by Gtamen on Twitter, this new patch is a small one focused on fixing issues in the PC version of GTA Online. We have the download sizes various PC versions plus the patch notes below.
Download Size
On the Rockstar Games Launcher, it is 453.59MB, on Steam.
What does it do?
OneStopRedditor over on the GTA Online subreddit has complied an unofficial patch notes due to Rockstar’s own being so vague as you’ll see below. As you can see from the community sourced notes, it makes numerous changes and improvements to GTA Online’s security.
- General updates to integration with BattlEye
- General updates to security
- General updates to network architecture
- Corrected a vulnerability allowing players to access GTA Online without BattlEye enabled
- Corrected a vulnerability affecting players’ experience
Rockstar Games insider Tez2 notes “This patch introduced anti-cheat improvements such as updating the logic for determining the session host, prevents cheaters from taking over the host slot easily, and improved the untrusted host kick measure.” These were issues introduced along with the addition of BattlEye earlier this month.

In other GTA Online news, the game’s servers were attacked last weekend forcing them to briefly go offline. Bad actors upset with the new anti-cheat took aim at both GTA Online and the anti-cheat’s website. Since then, we’ve not seen any further attacks despite threats. Bans can also be appealed which is new for GTA Online.
GTA V was also the best selling game in the UK last month despite releasing 11 years ago. Plus, itg was the 5th most played game last month in the USA and Europe. You can learn more about how well the game is still doing here.
