The RAGE:MP platform has been asked to shut down by Take-Two Interactive. The popular alternative to FiveM for GTA Online will be cease to exist in a few months as part of a staged wind-down of the project agreed between the team and publisher.
In a message on the RAGE:MP forums, the team behind the project have revealed a structured shutdown at the request of Take-Two. They point to both Rockstar and their parent company noting FiveM is the only authorized platform for GTAV multiplayer modding in their Platform License Agreement. You can find information on the wind-down including key dates below.
Shutdown Process Revealed
As of May, there will be no new Community Servers allowed to be created on RAGE:MP. Public access to the RAGE:MP server toolkit has also been discontinued.
Server owners can migrate over to FiveM (which Rockstar now owns) to continue their Grand Theft Auto fun. To help with this, the Cfx.re team at Rockstar will be providing technical support. Additionally, RAGE:MP server builds will remain available to current server owners via the Server Manager.

Dates For The Calendar
A key date to keep in the diary is June 1st 2026. The public server list will be shut down and will no longer be accessible. Please make sure you can still log into the Server Manager before this date, so your server continues working and you retain access to required tooling during the transition.
Finally, the entire platform will be fully inoperable as of August 31st 2026. If servers have not been moved over to FiveM, they will be gone forever. The RAGE:MP game client and server toolkit will no longer be available or supported and backend infrastructure will be permanently shut down.
A final message from those behind RAGE:MP can be found below:
“We know this is tough news for everyone — both developers and players. As FiveM is now Rockstar Games’ official platform for modding-based experiences, we’ve done our best to give you extra time to move your servers to their new home, and we will continue to do everything we can to make the switch over as smooth as possible.
RAGE:MP
All of us have put a huge amount of time and energy into building RAGE:MP. Thank you for being part of this journey and for everything you’ve done to help multiplayer grow. RAGE:MP was always defined more by the community than by the codebase.”
This move comes a just few months after another custom version of GTA Online, alt:v, suffered the same fate. It is clear Take-Two and Rockstar are making sure there will not be an alternative to FiveM now they own it.
