A brand new GTA college class has been announced ahead of GTA 6‘s release in 2026. This might be confusing and surprising to most people. However, some of our readers will know about the Red Dead Redemption college class we’ve reported on previously. The professor who has ran that Red Dead class is back with an all new experience in relation to GTA.
Titled “Grand Theft America: U.S. History Since 1980 through the GTA Video Games”, this history class will be available at the University of Tennessee. It starts on January 20th 2026. The mastermind behind both this GTA class and the Red Dead one is Tore Olsson.
As mentioned above, Olsson has taught students American history between 1899 and 1911 by using both Red Dead Redemption games due to their accuracy. Following the success of the class, the professor wrote a book called Red Dead’s History. It released last year. The audiobook version was narrated by Arthur Morgan himself Roger Clark. He uses Arthur’s voice making it a must listen for Red Dead fans.

Given both the author and fans alike loved the audiobook narrated by Clark, could we see another book based on this GTA class and narrated by a familiar voice? Tore Olsson tells IGN that he is “very much considering the possibility” and teases “an equally perfect audiobook narrator”. There’s a trio that could fit.
IGN also reports that the GTA class had been made with GTA 6’s original Fall 2025 release date in mind. That would mean it would have been part of the course when it began in early 2026. The idea was first conceptualised more than a year ago. As we know, Rockstar Games delayed their next release to May 26th 2026. Despite this, the class will still go ahead.

“This unique course uses the fictional Grand Theft Auto video games as a window for understanding the social, political, economic, and cultural transformations that remade the United States since 1980. No prerequisites.”
In other recent GTA 6 news, a data firm claims GTA 6 will “reshape” the console business. Plus, some of the humorous in-game websites were leaked by Take-Two themselves. Check them out here.
