The most reputable journalist when it comes to GTA 6 leaks has just reiterated he does not believe GTA 6 will release in 2025. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has a leading track record when it comes to leaks and reporting in the video game industry including several high profile reports on GTA VI.
He is well known for getting many key GTA VI details correct. This included the game’s location, protagonists and when Trailer 1 would release and more. In fact, Sam Houser, Rockstar’s Co-founder and President wanted to delay the announcement of the first trailer purely to make Schreier’s reporting incorrect.
In a new article on Bloomberg, Schreier shares his predictions for gaming in 2025. One section is about GTA VI. He does not think it will release in 2025 despite Take-Two saying it was still on track for a Fall release a couple of months ago. “I expect that it will slip to 2026” states the journalist. He said a similar thing last month. Of course, this is purely a prediction. If Jason knew it was for sure being delayed he would write a dedicated report on it rather than his own opinions. You can read Jason’s piece here.
What’s The Reason?
Part of Schreier’s reasoning is that Rockstar won’t do overtime that harmed developers during the production of GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2. It is worth mentioning Rockstar have remained quiet for over a year now.
This is far longer than they’ve gone without showing anything off before. The next likely chance we’ll get an update is in February when Take-Two have their quarterly earnings report. If nothing is said, then suggests a Fall 2025 release might not be on the cards. It is all just a waiting game for now.
Last month, Schreier reported that several large publishers in the video game industry are leaving it as long as they can to announce release dates for their games. This is to get out of GTA 6’s way if it does release in Fall 2025 or pushed to 2026. Rockstar are keeping an entire industry waiting.
In other GTA VI news, Rockstar seemingly referenced GTA 6 in GTA Online this week. Plus, a more higher quality version of the first trailer has been found gifting us more details to zoom in and take a look at. You can check it out here. Also, the game is now expected to make $3.2 billion in revenue and there was even what appears to be a leak from inside one of Rockstar’s offices.
