GTA 6 should still be getting a physical release when it launches on November 19th 2026 after all despite recent rumours from a previously source. Take-Two shut down these rumours as part of a big PR blowout for the company late on Wednesday.
Last week, a leaker named Graczdari who previously revealed Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 would come to PS5 and the release date for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds for Nintendo Switch 2 claimed they had learned GTA VI would not have a disc release on its launch day this November. They also said the discs would come out several weeks after release even as far into early 2027.
Wednesday saw Take-Two publish its Q3 2026 quarterly earnings report to investors where it told them GTA VI marketing would begin this summer. Plus, CEO Strauss Zelnick took part in several interviews covering a range of topics.
In an interview with Variety, Zelnick squashed the recent rumours. The publication asked him if the game will make its way to being printed on discs in 2026. The CEO was quick to address this head on. He told the outlet that it is “not the plan” to push a disc release to 2027. Some may say that does not rule out a disc launch later in 2026 and that’s technically true given the wording. There’s some room left open here but it seems doubtful at this time. We’ll have to wait and see what Rockstar decide to do for launch in the coming months.
Given we now know Rockstar will begin marketing the game in summer, one of the key beats will be opening pre-orders. This is where we’ll get disc, price and collector’s edition information.
