Take-Two Interactive‘s stock suffered a steep drop from the news GTA 6 had been delayed. Rockstar Games announced, as many expected, the game would not be making the targeted Fall 2025 time frame as of Friday. It has slipped to May 26th 2026 so quite a sizeable shift.
The news was made public before the Nasdaq opened for trading on Friday morning. In the pre-market, the drop was around 10%. When trading began Take-Two’s share price tumbled around 10%; from $235 to $215. It was able to recover a couple of percent but did see a slight drop again in after trading hours. It was just last quarter when Take-Two’s confidence in GTA VI coming out in Fall 2025 made the company’s share price reach an all time high.
Investors will have been disappointed in the delay news. For the past year, Take-Two have been saying it will be coming out in Fall 2025. This was reiterated by the company’s CEO just a couple of months ago.
There was growing confidence by the company and even the community it was actually going to come out this calendar year. Now it is no longer part of Take-Two’s current financial year but is in the next one.

Luckily for Take-Two, they still have new releases in their other franchises out this year. Mafia: The Old County does not have a date aside from 2025 though that should be revealed soon. Borderlands 4 meanwhile just got its date moved up rather than delayed. That title is coming in September. There’s also the annual release of NBA 2K and more for Take-Two.
Take-Two had those titles in mind when writing a statement made to reduce shareholder frustration. The company said on Friday they continue to reiterate their belief Net Bookings in Fiscal 2026 and 2027 will achieve record levels. GTA VI will now release in FY 2027 and the other games are in FY 26.
As investors and fans become a little disgruntled, maybe new screenshots or a trailer coming out soon will help the sentiment around the game pick up again. For more news on GTA 6, stay tuned to RockstarINTEL and sign up to our newsletter for a weekly round-up of all things Rockstar Games.
