GTA 6 pre-orders might finally be opening next week according to a leak from technology and video game retailer Best Buy. We might even see a third trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI to go along with it.
For the past week or so, fans have been speculating for a number of different reasons that pre-orders would be going live this week, on Tuesday. As we wrote about last week, the reasons fans began to believe were not good evidence. We are now past that date and nothing has happened as we expected for this week.
Hope is not all lost though for some big news coming in just a matter of days. Next week is Take-Two’s earnings report to investors which always seemed more likely time to open pre-orders. Plus, there is now a potential leak…
Best Buy May Have Ruined Rockstar’s Plan
Early on Thursday morning a Best Buy email sent out to select people may have just giving us the date for when pre-orders will finally be opening. As first spotted by content creator Frogboyx1Gaming, Best Buy mention GTA 6 pre-orders in their latest affiliate program email. It states that there is a campaign for “GTA 6 Pre Order (Physical Game). This means it is for the disc copy that will be found in stores and online. Several other people within the Best Buy affiliate program also provided screenshots from the same email that they received.
The date for this campaign begins on Monday May 18th and will run through Thursday May 21st 2026. Affiliates will earn 5% on all sales using their link. This would mean pre-orders would begin next Monday perhaps alongside a new trailer.

Explaining The Email
For those unaware, affiliate marketing is where anyone can get their own personal links from retailers to promote and earn commission off purchases made using that link. Companies such as Best Buy will email digests of what to look forward to in the coming week also. This is to help affiliates maximise their link sharing and profits.
This is not the traditional type of “leak” that’s obviously false and we would never report on. This is something from a legitimate company. Of course, it could be a mistake by someone at the company and preorders won’t be opening next week. Perhaps they put it in as a placeholder and forgot to remove it. That’s why, as always, we should be cautious although this is by far as good as we can get in terms of a leak.
