GTA 6 has seen six time higher pre-order sales than Call of Duty and EA FC in the same timespan, discloses French retailer CDdiscount. ‘GTA 6 is the biggest cultural event of 2026. In just 24 hours, we recorded six times more preorders than during an entire traditional preorder period for major franchises such as EA Sports FC or Call of Duty. It’s historic—something we’ve never seen before.’
The report comes from our French colleagues at Rockstar Magazine, who have been sent a press release by the retailer. CDdiscount also revealed some other interesting metrics. On June 25th Website traffic for the gaming section of the website increased by 500%. Traffic peaked between midnight and 1:00 am, counting 18 times higher traffic than the night before.
GTA 6 became the most searched term on the website, only behind the word ‘fan’ and ‘portable airconditioner’, due to the heatwave that is currently striking the entirety of Europe. These numbers aren’t surprising, but certainly record-breaking. Given that most people will likely purchase the digital edition of GTA 6, because of its code-only physical edition, these numbers only make out a small fraction of the total.
We hope Take-Two Interactive discloses pre-orders numbers soon, which we expect around the beginning of August, as Take-Two will hold their next earnings call by then.
Physical disc controversy
It goes to show that despite the controversy surrounding the physical release of GTA 6 (which will only come with a code in a box, and not a disc), it doesn’t seem to influence interest or sales, as it is still record-shattering.
In other news, a new report says GTA 6 will probably never get a physical disc edition after all, and that GTA 6 pre-orders on PS5 are outselling Xbox 6-to-1.

Just being serious. Why is this a story? It’s like it was a surprise to you all. People where even saying don’t preorder right away and then where right, pS was crashed ng and people got double charged bc the traffic was so high.
GTA San Andreas is very very cool game.
It is out there for more than twenty years but still people love playing this game.
Doesn’t seems to be loosing its popularity in the years to come.
