GTA 6 will apparently get GTA Online around one month from the game’s release date. That’s according to a reliable video game leaker but this information and track record does raise some questions which we’ll take a good look at.
There has been a bit of chatter in recent weeks within the community on when Rockstar will launch GTA 6‘s Online component. As we know, the game is still targeting a November 19th release meaning if GTA Online came out in a month or less it would be going live at Christmas time.
Rockstar, along with other game studios, typically give most of their staff a few weeks off after a new game launch. This would be time before Christmas and after. Given Rockstar will want GTA 6 Online’s release to go far smoother than with GTA Online for GTA V, fans have thought how an early 2027 date makes sense. It would also give players a few more weeks to really dig into the singleplayer content. However, it might end up going live a bit sooner than some people think.
GTA 6 Online Out In December?
Twitter user @TheGhostOfHope said on Wednesday that he has heard GTA 6 info from someone familiar with Rockstar’s plans. The company’s current schedule is to have GTA Online come out for the game within a month of the main game’s release.
On top of that, he claims to know several things about GTA VI but “nothing is set in stone yet” and feels like what he could say may get traced back to someone at Rockstar. We could end up getting more information on GTA VI and its multiplayer component from this leaker in the future depending if they feel safe to share it.
This is not a huge revelation given most post people anticipated it to launch a couple weeks to a month but it is still worth talking about. For comparison, GTA Online went live 2 weeks after GTA V released. Meanwhile Red Dead Online launched in Beta a month after Red Dead Redemption 2 came out. The beta branding could also be used again with GTA VI to lower expectations.
Is It Reliable?

Ghost of Hope is best known for leaking lots of details about Call of Duty but did report that DJ Khaled will host his own radio station in GTA 6 and more last year.
Whilst much of his reporting on the FPS franchise has been extremely accurate, things involving the upcoming instalment (Modern Warfare 4) has been shut down by Activision. Due to the publisher claiming they are inaccurate and damaging to the brand, they threatened him with legal action if he did not stop leaking information.
He has since stopped leaking anything on the franchise. So it is difficult to say if he is to be reliable for GTA 6 leaks at the moment. Who knows, maybe Activision were lying in their damage control.
