GTA 6 is the most important thing ever according to a respected video game industry analyst. Everyone knows how massive the anticipation is for GTA VI even before its public reveal. The trailer smashed several world records and public excitement levels are greater than GTA V’s.
Why is GTA VI so important?
In a new interview with gamesindustry.biz, industry analyst Mat Piscatella talks about the state of the games sector and how big GTA VI will be. Piscatella works for Circana, the leading firm for tracking game sales in the USA.
“This is going to be a tough year, but if you look towards 2025, if interest rates come down and money becomes a little bit more free-flowing to devs and pubs, we should get a boost in the development cycle again.

The past few weeks and months have been difficult ones for the video games industry. We’ve seen a record number of layoffs from prominent companies. This is all in spite of many commercially and critically successful games in 2023.
Mat explains 2024 is set to be a “tough year” but 2025 should be better for publisher’s financial situation. GTA VI will help bring a lot of eyes and excitement back to games next year. He adds “There’s probably never been a more important thing to ever release in the industry, so no pressure.”
Rockstar Games have continued to outdo their exceptional work over their 25 year history. This upcoming release is different though. GTA V is the second best selling game of all time and the wait for GTA VI has now lasted more than a decade. VI has already broke world records so expectations quite literally off the charts.
