Fans were hoping for some actual GTA 6 news alongside the latest financial figures from Rockstar and Take-Two on Tuesday but the hopes were quickly dismissed. That said, the company did mention the upcoming game.
Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive did reveal a new set of financial data for investors and during the company’s Q3 2026 quarterly earnings presentation, CEO Strauss Zelnick explained just how well Rockstar Games’ titles have done over the past three months. GTA V has now sold over 225 million copies and Red Dead Redemption 2 has become the 3rd best selling game of all time.
GTA VI Release Update
Take-Two, who previously reiterated GTA VI will launch on May 26th 2026, have now said it has been delayed. Despite rumours of a third trailer dropping before this investor event, there has been nothing from Rockstar aside from this information found below.
In an interview with The Games Business, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said he feels great about the game’s November 19th release date and that “we’ve got marketing beats coming this summer, is a huge departure from what I usually say, which is that our labels will make marketing announcements”.

Updated Grand Theft Auto V Sales Figures
Take-Two Interactive have revealed that Grand Theft Auto V has now surpassed 225 million copies as expected. It hit 220m in November and has routinely sold 5 million every quarter aside from one time last year where it slipped below that number.
This means the total sales of the Grand Theft Auto series is now at nearly 465 million copies worldwide, up 5+ million in the past 3 months. Once again, this is inline with the average quarter.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Sells 82m Copies

Red Dead Redemption 2 sold an extra 3 million copies in the last 3 months. This means Red Dead Redemption 2 has now sold over 82 million copies worldwide, up from 79 million in November. In total, the Red Dead Series has now sold over 110 million copies, up from 107 million 3 months ago.
The game is now less than 1 million copies away from becoming the 3rd best selling game of all time which is currently Wii Sport.
In other recent Red Dead 2 news, the game was the most downloaded PS4 title in all of 2025. It ranked 1st in 10 of the 12 months too which is impressive for a game that released in 2018 and has not received major updates in years.
