Former employees that were reportedly fired by Rockstar Games last week staged protests outside the main development office on Monday and Tuesday according to reports.
The Edinburgh Minute say “former staff have protested outside” the Rockstar North which is located at Barclay House, Edinburgh.
A local resident shared their account of what they saw taking place outside Rockstar North’s office on Reddit. They claim that when walking past the Barclay House building occupied by Rockstar on Monday and Tuesday, “a small crowd” were displaying banners.
Another protest is planned to take place outside Rockstar North’s office once again. This will occur on Thursday November 6th at 1pm until 2pm GMT. That’s according to UCU Edinburgh and the Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB) as spotted by Edinburgh Minute. You can find more info on the demonstration here. The IWGB have said they are doing what they can to reinstate the axed exployees.

Why They Are Protesting
This comes after the IWGB claimed that Rockstar fired between 30 and 40 developers across their UK and Canadian offices. It is alleged they did this because those involved attempted to organise a union.
The IWGB claims some of these workers are affected in different ways. Some are said to be working in Scotland on a visa sponsored by Rockstar whilst others suffer from medical conditions which are taken care of by Rockstar’s workplace healthcare schemes.
On Monday, SAG-AFTRA, the large actors union, also joined in supporting the ex-Rockstar staffers. Plus, the UTAW shared a statement backing the affected workers.
It will be interesting to see how this story develops as we approach the final months before GTA 6’s release. What do you think of the situation? Let us know down in the comments section below.
