GTA V for next-generation platforms will be more than a simple port, Take-Two says

Grand Theft Auto V is scheduled to re-launch on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 versions in the second half of 2021 as announced in June 2020. It’s set to feature new enhancements to the visuals and expand upon the game.

Take-Two Interactive the parent company of Rockstar Games has shed some light on the port speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference on Wednesday.

The folks at VGC reports earlier this week that Take-Two’s CEO of the company Strauss Zelnick speaking at the conference illustrated that Take-Two has no interest in publishing half-axed remaster ports and explains how their studio labels are putting a lot of time into making the best experience possible.

“I’m not sure there’ll be a bigger part of the strategy. Remastering has always been a part of the strategy. We’ve done differently than the competition – we don’t just port titles over, we actually take the time to do the very best job we can making the title different for the new release, for the new technology that we’re launching it on. It was a standard-bearer when it was launched, it continued to be the standard-bearer in the second generation, we’ll see how Grand Theft Auto does in the next generation. Obviously, I’m confident that Rockstar is going to deliver just a great experience, but you can’t do that if you’re just doing a simple port.”

He makes another point of his statement that he is confident Rockstar will deliver a great port but also illustrates it won’t be a ‘simple port’. As some speculate in the GTA community it’s hoped Rockstar will transition to the Red Dead Redemption 2 version of Rockstar’s RAGE game engine to step up the visuals.

For now, that’s it. Hopefully Rockstar will share some news in the coming weeks or months.

They’re saying that just so that they can sell it again. Since it was “hard work”, they’re gonna expect another $40 maybe $60 dollars. A 4th time.

We need more info, people are not going to be satisfied if we don’t hear something soon as Rockstar has already said that the Cayo Perico heist is the last update the current gen game is going to get. What do they expect us to do twiddle our thumbs till they decide to drop us a nugget of info.

They have a masterpiece game in Red Dead Redemption 2 and typical Rockstar fashion they refuse to listen to the fans and people paying for the online experience, which is garbage at best… GTAV online has received consistent attention while Rockstar overlooks and alienates an entire community of gamers in RDO… SMH… good job Rockstar way to screw over people who pay for your products…
