The GTA 6 Extended Look has led to a meaningful amount of console sales. That’s according to a new report that has detailed just how much pull GTA 6 has had already and it is still a couple of months away.
Last week saw the highly anticipated gameplay reveal of Grand Theft Auto VI on Netflix. The 27 minute long video was the most watched film on Netflix last week and topped charts worldwide. We learned on Wednesday that the reveal potentially led to a few hundred thousand pre-orders of the game. Sensor Tower via The Game Business reports that the game had a spike of 572% over the two days following the Extended Look’s release.
However, some people have not purchased a current gen console yet and are waiting for GTA VI. This means not everyone everyone who intends to get the game has pre-ordered the game yet. Console prices have risen and sales have slowed down. There is some movement though.
According to Nielsen IQ via The Game Business, the Grand Theft Auto VI Extended Look had PS5 console sales go up by 33% in the UK last week. PS5 Pro consoles are sold out in many regions and most retailers. Xbox Series X|S console sales rose up 34% too. However, Newzoo’s Ronan Patrick told The Game Business that that GTA 6’s console sale growth “may not be as significant as hoped”. We’ll have to wait and see if the game help the consoles sustain sales growth.
