GTA 6 sticking its course might be the culprit behind a delay to Red Dead Redemption 2’s next gen and Nintendo Switch 2 port. The ever reliable leaker NateTheHate has responded to questions surrounding Red Dead Redemption 2 for the latest consoles after a lack of news in recent months.
For a long time now, over a year in fact, the gaming leaker has maintained the position that the game is still coming to the hybrid console, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Nothing has changed on his side as of today.
When asked about any update on the PS5 version, Nate tells his followers on Twitter that He does not have one currently. Someone responded to this stating that they don’t think it exists. Nate added that it’s more likely “plans changed once GTA6 maintained its release for Nov.”
With GTA 6 pre-orders going live today and cementing a firm grip on that November 19th release date, Rockstar don’t have to smash the glass and put out a new version of the wild west classic.

Nate suggests “The game can sit in a finished state & release whenever Rockstar needs/wants.” This is similar tactic to what Nintendo have done in recent years. Some games have been sat complete for a long time just for the right moment to release it.
“If GTA were delayed, RDR2 could have been used to soften the blow. With no delay… they can hold RDR2 now” – Nate speculates
Red Dead Redemption 2 is still continuing to sell around 1 million copies a month. There is no rush to get it out especially with GTA 6 coming. With the wording from Rockstar published yesterday, it’s starting to feel like the next iteration of GTA Online could be much further away than we thought. Maybe the plan is to drop Red Dead Redemption 2 for current giant consoles in between GTA VI and this new version of GTA Online?
It does seem like something Rockstar could do especially if they think they need plenty more time prepare GTA Online for Grand Theft Auto VI.
