GTA 6 pre-orders are launching in just 4 days, and it seems a European retailer couldn’t bear the wait, listing five different editions of the game with a broad price range. We must however stress that this could be a placeholder, and is not necessarily indicative of the actual price, which we will find out on June 25th.
French retailer ‘fnac’, which is housed in Europe, listed several editions of a game with the following codenames: RS1, RS2, RS3, RS4 and RS5. All editions are set to launch November 19th, the day GTA 6 is planned to release. The following prices are listed:
Big Triple A releases generally cost €79.99, making this a €10 price bump all things considered. Five different physical releases does seem like a bit of a stretch though, as the price hikes for each editions seems to be only €10, with the notable exception being RS5, which would presumably be the collectors edition.
Rockstar’s previous release, Red Dead Redemption 2, had 3 SKU’s: Standard edition, Special edition, Ultimate edition and a collector’s box which didn’t include the game itself. To give a rough idea what to expect from these editions: both special and ultimate editions will likely include a steelbook, with some nice in-game bonuses, such as a cool car or nice outfit.
Price speculation

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the price of GTA 6 since its reveal, with many people concerned if Rockstar Games raises the price, many other publishers would follow suit. The price most speculated (and feared) is €100 for the standard edition, which would account for the rising development costs of games. If a price increase made sense for any game, it would be GTA 6. With a juggernaut rumoured development budget of between $1-$1.5B , it would be the most expensive entertainment production in human history. RDR2 cost around $240 million to produce (excluding marketings costs), making the budget for GTA 6 significantly larger.
