GTA Online just got updated with snow and other Christmas themed content in April. This is real. Check the game for yourself! Rockstar Games have just hatched an April Fool’s joke for the first time in 6 years and it is confusing fans.
Today is April 1st aka April Fool’s Day. Despite it not being December, Rockstar have activated snow to fall across Los Santos and Blaine County. This will annoy some GTA Online players for the day but also make others laugh. This will most likely be deactivated on Thursday April 2nd with the new Event Week.
On top of that, snowballs can be thrown and even The Gooch event is activated. This means you can take part in it despite the time of year not being Christmas. There are no bonus rewards involved with The Gooch so it is just to have fun playing around with him.

The last time Rockstar did this was all the way back in 2020. Snow was also activated in Red Dead Online back then too which is not active this time. It’s a little surprising the company decided to bring back this festive content to GTA Online this year rather than in any of the previous few years.
No doubt some fans will speculate this is something to do with GTA VI. Most likely the GTA Online team just thought it would be a bit of fun after several years of not doing it. GTA 6 marketing will begin in Summer per Take-Two Interactive’s last quarterly earnings report to investors. It is also said by Rockstar’s parent company the game’s marketing will be “astonishing“.
